Epds of each bull are listed below.
We have targets for each of five economic traits that help us produce a bull that will add value all the way to the table.
BW (birth weight) we target a range of .5 to 2.7 for BW. We want a bull that will work on heifers and produce the most important step in the process to the plate and that is a live calf.
WW & YW (weaning weight and yearling weight) The minimum target level for these traits is above breed average of 45 for WW & 82 for YW. Order-buyers k now that Angus sired calves excel in the feedlot. We want to get as much growth from birth to yearling as economically feasible.
MILK We target a range from 18 to 24 on MILK EPD. Not too much but enough for his daughters to give their calves plenty of milk.
MARB (marbling) We target the top 20% of the breed for carcass traits. As this moves from animal to carcass premiums are paid on high marbling.
RE (ribeye) We target the top 20% of the breed for carcass traits. As this moves from animal to carcass higher muscling helps improve yield grades. A good predictor of overall muscling.
